Priority to upgrade ed competencies




1379770037228751800MUSCAT — The national symposium on Education and 21st Century Competencies kicks off today under the auspices of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council, in the presence of Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, at Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Hotel. Commenting on the event, the minister of education said symposium come in implementation to the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos at the annual convening of the Council of Oman in which His Majesty the Sultan stressed on the importance of linking the education output to job market requirements through the continued revising of the educational policies, plans and strategies. The 3-day symposium is held within the framework of the continuous planning, developing and evaluating processes that aim at upgrading the students’ educational standard, boosting the educational output, improving the teachers’ performance and updating curricula, among others. These goals are on top of the Ministry of Education’s priorities, Al Shaibaniyah said.
